A Message From The President

I want to first thank you for visiting our website and taking the initiative to learn more about Pi Sigma Epsilon. I hope you find the information throughout the website valuable and informative. Please allow me to tell you what Pi Sigma Epsilon, otherwise known as PSE, means to me.

I joined in my fall semester of my sophomore year at Duquesne, after only being in the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business for a few weeks. I had been searching to become involved on campus and decided to attend our annual EXPO day, where all organizations set up a table on Academic Walk and provide information about their group. I was asked randomly if I were a business student and thus the conversation started. I was astonished by the kindness and enthusiasm behind the members and knew this was the right decision for me. They say it takes seven seconds to complete your first impression, it took me less then that to know PSE was a great group.

Following that I dove in and become involved in as much as I could. I soon found myself nominated and elected as President of our chapter. Upon receiving my new title, I became scared and nervous. However, these emotions did not last long because I knew I had the unconditional support of the entire membership and leadership.

PSE caused me to grow in a great way, much faster than I had ever anticipated. However, I have never been more grateful for the unique opportunity it presented me. I found myself running my own business, a business focused on corporate America, a business focused on growing individuals, and a business focused on fostering lasting relationships.

Through our vast spread of national and local corporate partners, PSE allows students to dive into the business world years before graduation. Members often find themselves meeting and learning from professionals multiple times a month at chapter meetings. These are great opportunities to learn about companies around the country and professions that may have been unfamiliar prior. Members may also find themselves at a Fortune 500 company headquarters one day or in a room with 30 professionals enjoying a night of networking the next. The possibilities are endless.

In my time as President, I have seen countless individuals push and grow themselves far past their own expectations. Our multiple leadership positions offer yearly roles to students who want to take the ultimate charge in seeing the success of PSE. However, it does not take a leadership role to grow. Growth has come in feeling more comfortable speaking in public, interviewing better, networking, and so many more ways. This growth found in PSE has helped students secure jobs with companies such as Tom James Company, DuPont, Pandora, and PNC to name a few.

The relationships developed as a member are what I find most important. The members of PSE have become my closest and best of friends in my college years. We all seek one thing in life, the success of each other. This could come in academics, professions, or other activities. Aside from the members, the relationships developed with professionals are invaluable. Each speaker that comes to PSE is a friend to the chapter and will go as far out of their way as needed to help our members.

Pi Sigma Epsilon is the best decision I have made in my college career. I have become a young professional through this group and I could not be more grateful for the opportunities it has provided me. I speak on behalf of the entire chapter when I say, if you're not involved yet, we would love you have you! Please visit our contact page and reach out to us to learn more. Don't forget to follow us on social media!
